Family Car Rentals has an office on the Gold Coast, serving customers living in or visiting Australia’s holiday headquarters.
We don't headline “we are the cheapest”, or we will match any other quote (or beat it by 5%). We have a Best Value Guarantee wherein we state that if you find a comparable deal that is cheaper than our quote, we will reduce our price by double the difference, plus an additional $50.00. We have always set our operations apart from our competitors and we regularly check on them to ensure that we stay in front, in both service standards and value for money.
Including us, there are 49 car rental companies on the Gold Coast and we maintain a constant vigil of what is going on in our market place. We strive to provide the best possible service levels and the best value rental deals.
We never charge for child safety seats, we have found only two other companies that also supply these items without charge.
We are one of the 26 companies that do not charge for additional drivers, those that do charge for extra drivers had 7 day prices from $10 to $56.21 for this facility when we checked in early April 2018.
The biggest price variance in car rental packages is with insurance excess reduction and it is also by far the most misleading of all of the components of a rental package. We provide two Zero excess options and we also have a 90% reduction option. Full 7 day coverage cost is $81.50 -$93.50 for the ZERO excess packages and $73.50 for the intermediate reduction. Prices that we found in early April 2018 from other rental companies ranged from $63.00 to $233.11 for the intermediate cover and Zero Excess covers started at $126.00, ranging up to $383.58.
Of course, value is much more than mere price – we are not one of those companies that tell you that your excess is reduced to a low figure (sometimes NIL), but fail to make it clear that they are offering you a package that contains very serious flaws in coverage compared to normal insurance expectations which could leave you exposed for tens of thousands of dollars.
We subscribe to a private monitoring service covering more than 120 rental companies and well over 1,000 branches. This service has created 32 different standards of Consumer Fairness in respect of rental terms and conditions, insurance coverage, disclosure, clarity and transparency of information and service charges, privacy policy matters and service levels. They do not make any judgement on pricing.
We are the only rental car operator in all of Australia which has been awarded “Gold Medal” status by complying with all of their 32 Standards of Consumer Fairness.
Every other rental company has some form of shortcoming according to the monitoring service, it’s knowing the degree and nature of those shortcomings that can save you from serious financial harm.
